What would you do if your best friend, mum, dad or work wife has a sudden cardiac arrest and drops down in front of you? The alarming reality is that only 15% of all Belgians could save the life of the person they care about. Extra concerning: 70% of CPR needs to be performed by someone the victim knows. Normally, you cannot prepare yourself for that. So, us and MMBSY did something abnormal for the Belgian Cardiological League, instead.
We even got his zits right
Together with Rob’s Propshop in Amsterdam we made an exact copy of famous Belgian actor and comedian Rik Verheye’s head. And then placed it onto a working CPR training doll. The results are freakishly uncanny. Every hair, every pore, even the one zit on his neck is the exact same as on the real-life Rik.
Having to perform CPR on someone you know may be reality, but it’s still an extremely daunting task to do. One nobody could prepare for, until now.
Become a Heart Starter
Everyone could now practise resuscitating someone they know on someone they know: Rik Verheye. CPR Rik and the real one travelled the country, tv-studios and talk shows to raise awareness and teach the basics of CPR to Belgium. That way, everyone could become a Heart Starter.
On wordhartster.be, you could even get your degree after watching a CPR instruction video you’d actually want to watch and share with your friends and family. And you, do you know how to save the life of the people you care about most?
